Foresight MAs and PhDs by research (meaning low- or no-residency) can be done under Sohail Inayatullahat Queensland University of Technology (QUT), in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, in Brisbane and Carseldine, QLD, Australia, and at the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC), in the Faculty of Law, Sunshine Coast, QLD, Australia.

Dr. Inayatullah, is also faculty at Tamkang University, Taipei, Taiwan, in their Graduate Institute of Futures Studies (GIFS) (See Tamkang U page). He is a widely published and well-regarded futurist, a leader in critical futures, and developer of the discipline of Causal Layered Analysis (CLA), a very effective poststructural futures studies method.

Time: Most students finish in three years.Some go part-time (with appropriately reduced fees) and take from 3-6 years.

Cost: For Non-Residents, roughly USD $30,000 for the whole program.($10,000-12,000 AUD, or $9K-11K USD per year).For accepted Australian students, fees are waived at QUT.For accepted Australian students, fees can be discounted at the USC, but not waived.

Residency Requirements: At QUT PhD students must come to the university twice, each time for a few days. The first is fora thesis proposal examination and later fora final oral presentation. The University of the Sunshine Coast has no face-to-face (oral exam) requirement, so the entire PhD can be done by distance.

Foresight Topics:All of the MA and PhD students Dr. Inayatullah has supervised to date (9 are listed below) have been in futures. All students under his supervision have used causal layered analysis in their theses, and some have used other FS methods as well, including scenarios, integral theory, emerging issues analysis, and statistical analysis.

Project: As far as we can tell, there is presently no formal listing of a Futures Studies / Foresight track at QUT or USC. We will follow up with Dr. Inayatullah and investigate how we might help get some formal language on the QUT or USC websites regarding futures options, and how we might help those schools to better promote these affordable, innovative programs to the global futures community.
